Replacing the factory/prison approach to education, his buildings embodied contemporary educational-reform concepts about light, fresh air, and play space for children coming from crowded tenements. Trans: take #2/3 train to Bergen St., meet 10 a.m. on the south side of Flatbush Ave. Bring water, lunch. Frequent dropping off points.
