1006: Tahoe Backcountry Ski Touring
Activity: Skiing - Cross-Country (Nordic)
Status: OPEN

Lake Tahoe is surrounded by the Sierra Nevada Mountains, which annually receives snowfalls of 5 to 10 feet and offers spectacular scenery and excellent backcountry ski touring opportunities. From an historic old lodge located in South Lake Tahoe, we will travel to trailheads in and around Eldorado National Forest for daily backcountry/cross country tours of approximately 5-10 miles of moderate, undulating terrain (no extreme skiing). We will glide through lodge pole pine, glades and drainages, across high mountain lakes and along wide open slopes. Incredible panoramic views over the Lake Tahoe valley will reward your efforts. Participants should be at least intermediate Nordic skiers in good physical condition and wider backcountry Nordic equipment is recommended. Approximate cost $2250 includes airfare from Boston/Newark (alternate airports may be higher), lodging, ground transportation, breakfasts and dinners.
