7.0 mi. A loop and an out-&-back on 4 trails adjacent to Parkers Creek, the last undeveloped creek on the western shore of the Chesapeake Bay. Explore a complete estuary with an ecosystem gradient that reflects coastal salt marsh transitioning to fresh water stream and swamp habitat. Tread is nearly all dirt paths. Some marshy areas, some steep inclines, & some poor footing. [A.A.Co. & Balt. folks:] Meet 8:15 am at Truman Pkwy park/ride lot off Riva Rd, Annapolis. Depart at 8:30 am. Carpool in caravan. Take Riva Rd S. across South R. to fork. Take L. fork, Beards Pt Rd. Cross Central Av., MD Rte 214, & continue on Brick Church Rd. to T with Solomons Isl. Rd., MD Rte 2. Turn R. to go S. to Calvert Co. [D.C. folks: Follow Capital Beltway (I-495) to Forestville. At exit 11, go S. on MD Rte 4.] Proceed on MD Rtes 2-4 to Prince Frederick. Turn L. or E. on Dares Bch Rd, MD Rte 402. Go 2.3 mi. Turn R. on Double Oak Rd. Go 0.8. mi. Turn L. atthe "Double Oak Farm" sign. Go 0.3 mi. & park. Sign the register at the sign-in box located next to the white shed across from the parking area. Step off at 9:30 am. Trail description & map will be provided. Portable toilet situated at trailhead.
