1001: The Galapagos Archipelago By Land and By Sea

Enjoy 10 days in the unique Galapagos Archipelago on this land and sea-based custom trip accompanied by experienced multi-lingual guides and naturalists. The natural history, singular environment, remarkable spring plants and creatures of this Natural Heritage Site and Biosphere Reserve are renowned. The trip starts in Quito, Ecuador with a day exploring countryside villages before flying to the Galapagos for a 5-day cruise on a 20-passenger yacht to several of the smaller islands with shore visits each day. Next are 5 days with land stays on Isabela and Santa Cruz to explore the unique ecology of these volcanic islands. Daily activities will include moderate hiking, swimming and snorkeling in warm equatorial waters. Reservations and deposits are required by March 2009 to participate. $6,200-6,600 per person dbl occupancy for accommodations (first class yacht and 3-4 star hotels), most meals, guides and naturalists, and local transportation plus estimated airfare of $1,100-1,400 per person.
