0840: Pack and Paddle Patagonia's Torres del Paine

Experience the beautiful backcountry at the other end of the earth in Chile's Torres del Paine National Park, established as a biosphere reserve by UNESCO in 1978. We will embark on a 10-day, 70+ mile backpack circuit through diverse landscape on the edge of the southern ice field to explore glaciers, condors and guanacos. We will stay in hostels, refugios and campsites, preparing some of our own meals while on the trail. Journeying to fjords and glaciers, we will navigate the Rio Serrano through Bernardo O'Higgins National Park for 3 days with sea kayaks, camping on its banks at night with options for paddling near glacial icebergs. We will visit the towns of Punta Arenas and Puerto Natales. Basic kayaking experience and 4+ consecutive days of recent backpacking required. Cost approx $2400 plus approx airfare of $2000.
