Boundary Maintenance Work in the Maine Woods Initiative

Try something different. The Maine Chapter Trail volunteers will be working with the AMC land manager for the MWI to maintain some of the 60 miles of boundaries that enclose the 37000 acres of the Katahdin Ironworks lands in northern Maine. This volunteer experience involves a combination of map and compass, trail work and bushwhacking. We work our way along the property lines verify their location, finding old blazes and making new ones -Lots of fun and satisfying too. Join us if you can. We will staying at the soon to be opened Gorman Chairback Camps on Long Pond with downtime opportunities for paddling, hiking or just taking it easy after a day of walking the line.
