Co. folks: Meet at Truman Pkwy park/ride lower lot off Riva Rd near Annapolis at 8:15 a.m. Eat breakfast & get gas first. Depart at 8:30 a.m. Carpool in caravan to New Carrollton MetroRail station. [Balt. & D.C. folks: Access MetroRail at station of your choice.] Take MetroRail to Smithsonian station (Orange/Blue lines). Look for "AMC" yellow placard at top of portal! Step off at 10 a.m. to enjoy Tour #s 3, 5 & 6 in "Washington On Foot" [Protopappas & NcNeal, eds., Smithsonian Books, 4th Ed., 2004] Savor dramatic readings from the text at 54 sites. Route details & map will be provided. Bring snax to share, and water. Boots not necessary. Dress in layers but wear backpack to facilitate shedding. Canines are discouraged but, if present, must leashed (+ bi-lingual). Hike is on rain or shine."Show & Go!" (RSVP not necessary) Post-hike lunch site to be determined by consensus.
