Meet in lobby of Penn Station, 1515 N. Charles St., 21201-5808 [Balt. folks: It's your town!] [D.C. folks: Get to downtown Baltimore. Charles St. divides Balt. E. & W. Take Charles from the Inner Harbor 18 blocks N.] Park on-street or in garage in front of station. Green option: Take LightRail to Penn Station [www.mtamaryland.com/services/lightrail]. Meet in Penn Station lobby at 9:45 a.m. Coffee & restrooms abound there. Step off at 10 a.m. Hike narrative will be ably delivered by Charlie Duff, renowned Baltimore urbanist and raconteur, who will comment on the streetscape and the plans for the District. Others involved in the planning will be invited to join us. If much of the '08 Mt. Vernon stroll was an "after" view of renewalefforts there, Charlie warns that much of the '09 stroll will be a "before" view! Stroll will be augmented by visits to galleries/studios. Bring snax to share, and water. No canines. Boots are unnecessary. Dress in layers and bring backpack to shed them. Rain or shine. "Show & Go." (No RSVPs.) Post-hike repast at hostelry in the district.
